UMD Case
PSP accesories are already turning out to be almost as swanky as the PSP itself. First the very nicely designed Logitech PSP case, now this, a compact case for 3 UMDs and a Memory Stick Duo. Very swish.

It’s always interesting when a dev comments on things, this time one of the chaps who worked on Spiderman 2. He specifically comments on AI and the difference between good/advanced AI and fun/fair AI. There are a lot of interesting comments to the post too - stealth games really would be quite rubbish if the guards weren’t designed to be so stupid.
First Valve, then eventually 3D Realms, now Remedy? Retail distribution isn’t going away any time soon but the more online distribution the better. Despite its faults I was happy to use Steam to buy Half-Life 2. It’s the convenience y’see?
On a related note here’s an early interview about Alan Wake on Eurogamer.
Now this is a slick site - rarely has Flash been used to inject so much personality into a web page. The game looks fun too. Desperado meets Max Payne meets over the top Mexcan drug cartel busting fun. With crazy stunts and gunplay. Here’s hoping it delivers.

Good Lord I love a good rant. As gatmog so right put, it almost feels like OMM is back. While some of the criticisms of the gaming industry come across as slightly ignorant of technology limitations, some are quite true, spot on in fact. Read what I’m talking about here - it’s both funny and thought provoking even at points where you think it’s wrong.
Yes, they’re still working on it. It’s a shame they’re being current plugin compatability nazis though. Maybe it’s because it worked well for Windows 95 (or maybe OS2 was always doomed), but I’d rather they force plugins to do a little updating rather than being obsessed with legacy support that’s bound to hold the browser back.
Wikipedia never ceases to amaze. There’s an entry for fictional swear words. Thankfully it even includes "smeg" from Red Dwarf. (via Waxy.org)
At least, it will when I get to it. Had to restart Thief Deadly Shadows after a reformat, frustratingly. Anyhow, Kieron Gillen’s monster disection of this legendary level is now available in PDF on his site. The bastard can really write.

We interupt your regular programming to bring you this utterly bonkers link spotted on rllmuk.

It was always pretty obvious the characters in Guild Wars were tweaked to visually appeal to both Western and Korean tastes. What’s interesting is that the NCSoft guys had to tell ArenaNet to do that - originally their warriors were Conan types rather than the slightly softer look they now have. More detail in this interesting Making of Guild Wars video. Some of it’s in Korean but there’s plenty of interesting detail in English still. Just click the big green button.
Well, while the gameplay itself still looks desperately boring (I was in the beta and recent videos made it look no better) at least they’re doing some interesting things with the story line. Seems some mysterious assassin nailed Morpheus for good. More info in this interview on (ugh) MTV. (via Kotaku)
If you read the interview it’s kind of sad that their ongoing story takes player choice into account very little. Morpheus planted bunch of bombs and all the faction members were then tasked with defusing them. Tough luck if any of them supported Morpheus and didn’t want to defuse anything. Call me when groups of players can actually have a tangible influence on a MMO. There are numerous stories of players deciding they didn’t want an MMO story to head where the developers were forcing it, it’s a shame they got smacked down each time. So much for choice and influencing the story.
