Frakkin’ Toasters
I wouldn’t wear it, but the BSG in joke here is brilliant even so.

Yes, I’m a closet Trekkie, but nowhere near enough of one to buy an entire series on DVD. Luckily enough, Paramount are collecting the best Borg episodes, as voted for by fans, in one boxed set. Arguably a cynical money making effort to make up for the lack of income from a current series, though it also means people like me get to watch some of the best episodes (i.e. the Borg ones, clearly) without having to shell out too much cash. It seems many of the best Voyager episodes had the Borg in them too, which saves me watching the entire series! Not out in the UK yet (if ever), but then that’s what DVD Box Office is for.
While they both form a very happy part of my childhood, those two words should never be seen together. So wrong.
As far as I’m concerned, the BBC just keeps on earning that license fee. No mention of a date yet but they’re planning to both stream BBC 1 and 2 and offer shows for download. Brilliant to see.
Rome, a new series coming from HBO, looks great. Roman politics, battles and decadence with some fantastic looking sets and settings. The acting seems more than decent too, though maybe I’m reading too much into a trailer. Great to see that Gladiator wasn’t our last on-screen dramatisation set in this fantastic era.

I had no idea the excellent Neverwhere mini-series was finally on DVD, though sadly it’s an import job despite being a BBC series. It was a Neil Gaimen penned BBC drama about "London Below", a hidden pseudo-mythical subculture that hides beneath our reality.
What’s more, it turns out Neil Gaiman is the writer behind Mirror Mask. The trailer looks almost too weird, though that never stopped some of Terry Gilliam’s flicks from being excellent. Must get round to reading more of his work given that I loved both Neverwhere and Good Omens. (via Clickable Culture)

While I normally strive for some semblance of eloquence literacy here, I think this requires I make an exception and resort to an internet acronym and made up word: OMFG WOOT!

I can’t help but like Will Wheaton. There’s a nice interview on Slashdot with the former Star Trek fangirl pinup who’s now a voice actor, writer and geek. Good for him. Mildly amusing Trekkie trivia about the Engineering Bay:
The huge cutaway view of the Enterprise is filled with little graphical
inside jokes, like a hamster wheel where the engine should be, only two
restrooms at opposite ends of the ship…
