Studio Scale AT-AT

I thought owning a Boba Fett mini bust (which I now do) was the height of my Star Wars geek desires - not any more. It costs a fortune but that thing is gorgeous, right down to the crashed Snow Speeder and footprints in the snow. Oh for a lottery win.

Ultraviolet Movie Trailer

Sadly not a feature length version of the utterly superb TV series. Instead it’s a movie by the Equilibrium director and writer. So expect storming action and a decent plot that takes itself a little too seriously - fine by me!

Official Universal Movie Downloads

Well it’s about damn time! Sure, they’ll be DRM’d to death, but as the Universal CEO said, it’s “something we have to do”. Or more like iTunes kicked them into thinking “hey, if it worked for music…”.

Star Wars Transformers

While they both form a very happy part of my childhood, those two words should never be seen together. So wrong.

Evil Interiors

Artist Palle Torsson has used Unreal Tournament 2003 to carefully recreate settings of frightening or violent film scenes (video here). Using a game to create art by recreating film sets is certainly an interesting idea. Even though I don’t recognise some of the films it’s a strangely creepy achievement too. (via the ever splendid we make money not art)

Parcour Action Clip

Hands down the best on-foot chase scene I’ve ever seen, probably because it features David Belle, co-founder of Parkour, doing most of it. Something tells me the Eidos game won’t be half as exciting as this. (Plucked fresh from the Human Inbox)

Neverwhere

I had no idea the excellent Neverwhere mini-series was finally on DVD, though sadly it’s an import job despite being a BBC series. It was a Neil Gaimen penned BBC drama about "London Below", a hidden pseudo-mythical subculture that hides beneath our reality.

What’s more, it turns out Neil Gaiman is the writer behind Mirror Mask. The trailer looks almost too weird, though that never stopped some of Terry Gilliam’s flicks from being excellent. Must get round to reading more of his work given that I loved both Neverwhere and Good Omens. (via Clickable Culture)

V for Vendetta

The V for Vendetta trailer is out. So far, so is the jury, partially because I need to read the original comics first, and partly because that sounded like too many fake British accents in there. Oh, and Alan Moore already hates it. It could still be good I guess - unlike most people I’ve still got some respect for the Wachowski Brothers. (via CHUD)

Deathstar Sub

Another case of stuffing technology into something from Star Wars. Honestly, I just can’t get enough of stuff like this. (Again, The Shack provides)

Revenge of the Sith: Abridged

I actually really enjoyed Revenge of the Sith, despite its faults, but this abridged version does pretty much nail it. (via The Shack, again) A quote:

YODA leads an army of WOOKIEES to fight against DROIDS. Thescene is utterly superfluous and present solely to have ascene containing WOOKIEES. It also serves to make the STARWARS UNIVERSE seem even smaller with more cameos bycharacters from the original trilogy.

Movie Sequels

Let me do you a quick favour here. Watch these two trailers:

The Transporter 2
Ice Age 2

All done? Good. If precedence is any indication, you’ve now already seen the best that both those sequel movies have to offer. No need to thank me.

Steel Sculptures

Stumbled across this while looking for the RoboCop picture below. This guy in Thailand has a factory creating these fantastic steel sculptures of movie characters, animals and even military vehicles. Some of the pieces are fantastic, very creative work.
