Not much of interest apart from a mention that the wired controller will work with PCs too. Nice.

As the IGN article mentions, you’ve got to take into account more than inflation, but the Neo Geo and 3DO were extortionate by any measure. I’m surprised the Jaguar was so reasonably priced though, was it just the lack of games that held it back?
With what looks like a proper story-mode! Happy happy joy joy happy happy joy. (via 4cr)

The death of the adventure game continues to be greatly exaggerated. The entire Autumn Moon team is ex-Lucas Arts and they’re working on a new adventure game called A Vampyre Story. They announced this one very early to get community (and subsequently publisher) interest, so don’t expect to see it soon. It’s interesting to note they’re eyeing mobile gaming as a possible audience for new adventure games, presumably PDAs and the DS.

Without Warning is what half the Core crew (now at Circle Studio) did next. It sounds kind of like The Getaway meets Rainbox Six meets Half-Life - at least that’s how I imagine the top line publisher pitch went, there’s bound to be more to it.

Big factory facility, terrorists, linear story but it interweaves between six characters who often cross paths. Seeing yourself in a game, such as when you saw Gordon Freeman while playing Adrian Shepherd in Opposing Force, can be strangely cool - maybe Without Warning will be too. Admittedly this is half the team that did the awful Angel of Darkness but a second chance doesn’t hurt.
My German isn’t good enough to confirm this for sure however this (the German Xbox Product Manager’s blog) apparently indicates that the Xbox 360 will output to a VGA monitor at various resolutions, including native LCD ones. Certainly a U-turn from the original Xbox where they refused to support monitors. In related news, shiny-shiny PGR 3 shots.
Rome, a new series coming from HBO, looks great. Roman politics, battles and decadence with some fantastic looking sets and settings. The acting seems more than decent too, though maybe I’m reading too much into a trailer. Great to see that Gladiator wasn’t our last on-screen dramatisation set in this fantastic era.

Based on one of the most successful BattleBot designs ever, apparently. Go see.

Reminds me of the first UK Robot Wars series final. A smug team of Cambridge students and their £1000 robot lost to a cheap robot made of recycled junk. Brilliant. (via Gizmodo)
Sounds reasonable too. The basic hard disk-less version costs £209.99, the everything and the kitchen sink version £279.99. Sounds fair to me, that’s still 120 quid less than the Saturn launched at. The pricey one includes a HD video cable, wireless pad, hard drive, remote control and even the extortionate wifi adapter (60 squid!) so while it’s a bit steep that’s a lot of bang for your buck.
Hands down the best on-foot chase scene I’ve ever seen, probably because it features David Belle, co-founder of Parkour, doing most of it. Something tells me the Eidos game won’t be half as exciting as this. (Plucked fresh from the Human Inbox)

There’s nothing quite like EVE Online as my on-and-off addiction only goes to show. No shards, no swords, no elves, no log-out wait, just massive ships, free expansions and a colossal universe to explore and conquer. No other MMO has held my attention for remotely as long. Not only is it still one of the few MMOs to truly break the mould, developers CCP are probably one of the few developers based in Iceland. Anyhow, here’s an interview for you:
We just reached 64.000 subscribers and have been very close to 13.000
concurrent players online at the same time… We’re ecstatic with these numbers and they encourage us to work even
harder to please all the players.
Nowhere near WoW numbers, but then they’re happy with that and doing just fine so that’s great. (via VE3D)
