Nintendo Wii

Yes, that’s really the final name for the Revolution, your local games forum is guaranteed to be slamming it right now. You’ve got to wonder if they even ran this by anyone outside of Nintendo Japan Marketing. It can mean “diminutive” in Scotland, “urine” in England and “Yes” in France. Brilliant!

Wii!

Update: Oh my, it gets better. Who will be distributing Wii all over the UK? Kock.

After sleeping on it I’m still convinced they could not have picked a more ridiculous name to instantly neutralise the massively unique appeal of the console itself, Tycho seems to agree.

Shop assistant:”hell sir can i help you”
    me:”yes i have come for a wee”
    assistant:”excuse me?”
me:”don’t make me say it again, i want a wii!”

Alternatively, I think I’ll go queue for a Wii. How they can seriously have thought this one through is beyond me. Dreamcast sounded silly but at least there weren’t a miriad of ridiculous conotations behind the name.

They must be taking the piss?

I’m not letting Nintendo Wii in my living room.

    The jokes are endless. :)

But they get a lot of coverage now, everyone seems to be talking about it ^^
